Dr Cathy Treadaway is an artist, writer and educator. She is Reader in Creative Practice at Cardiff School of Art, University of Wales Institute Cardiff and Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Bath in the Department of Computer Science.

Her current research investigates the use of digital technology within creative practice and in particular the role of the hand and hand making within the digital process. She has recently worked as co-investigator on an AHRC funded project ‘Collaborative Investigation into the role of the Hand Craft and Digital Processes within Creative Practice’ with the artist Charlotte Hodes, Senior Research Fellow at the London College of Fashion.

Cathy has over 20 published academic papers in print in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings, including: Leonardo, The Design Journal, Interacting with Computers. She contributed a chapter on digital print for the edited book ‘Smart Clothes and Wearable Technology’ (McCann, J. and Bryson, D Eds.) Pub. Woodhead Publishing (2009).
