Imi Maufe trained and worked as a landscape architect before completing a Masters in Multi-disciplinary Printmaking at the University of the West of England, Bristol in 2004.

Preferring brief based projects, such as residencies and commissions, Imi works with different media including screenprinting, letterpress and forms of inventive, low-tech printing along side found objects and other discoveries. Artist’s books are often used to document a project or happening, such as a long distant cycle ride or ski tour.

In 2007/08 Imi was resident artist for Visual Arts in Rural Communities, based in Highgreen, Northumberland, documenting place, time and events, in collaboration with the local community.  During the year she created a series of artist’s books and prints as part of the final exhibition ‘Raffle Tickets and Midges’. A specially designed suitcase housed the work and was toured by bike, and another version  placed in the mobile library.

Imi had been selected for the Northern Print Biennale 2009 to show work from ‘Raffle Tickets and Midges’ in the Hatton Gallery, Newcastle, and completed a print commission called ‘Passport to Print’ for part of the Biennale. Imi is currently living in Bergen, Norway with a base in Norfolk, England.
