Teresa Jaynes is Executive Director of Philagrafika a nonprofit arts organization that provides leadership for large-scale, collaborative initiatives with broad public exposure. Philagrafika builds upon Philadelphia’s rich history and abundant artistic resources to enhance the city’s presence as an international center for innovation in print and contemporary art. Philagrafika 2010: The Graphic Unconscious is an international festival celebrating print in contemporary art that will run from January 29 – April 11 in Philadelphia.
Jaynes has guided the program development of Philagrafika, both the upcoming international festival and the organization’s regional program as the Philadelphia Print Collaborative, since 2000. As the founding director, Jaynes successfully built a collaborative network of arts institutions, non-profit organizations and artists to produce citywide programs that bring broad visibility for the larger print community. As chief spokesperson for Philagrafika, Jaynes manages relationships with a range of stakeholders, including the leaders in the Philadelphia arts community, city agencies, national associations in the field and the media.
Jaynes is also an installation artist who in 1999 was a recipient of the Pew Fellowship in the Arts. Jaynes has a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin and an MFA from Tyler School of Art, Temple University.
