After a 25 year career as an industrial ceramist, in December 2000 David joined the Centre for Fine Print Research at the University of the West of England to assist on an AHRC funded project researching ceramic relief printing and photo-ceramic imaging techniques.
Developing an interest in 3D printing and rapid prototyping David continued to research the use of these technologies in an Art/Craft environment.
Currently David is in the final year of a three year project to develop the materials and methodology to allow the free form fabrication of 3D printed ceramic artworks and is investigating new projects involving advanced ceramic forming technologies and their potential for Arts/Crafts usage. He maintains contacts within the ceramic industry and is active at industrial and academic conferences at both a national and international level.
Impact Activities: Demonstration of 3D Scanning, 3D Printing and Rapid Prototyping Technologies, Co-Author Paper Panel 2.
Away from work he continues to indulge a fondness for fast cars and large motorcycles.
