Dr. Anne Hammond is Research Fellow in Photography in the Centre for Fine Print Research at the University of the West of England. She was formerly co-editor of History of Photography journal (1990-2000), and is the author of Ansel Adams: Divine Performance (Yale University Press, 2002).
A photographic historian for many years, she joined the CFPR in 2005 and is pursuing projects that interpret the work of major photographers, and that shed light on the relationship between the history and aesthetic of the continuous-tone photographic image and the processes of printing in ink.
Her exhibition ‘Ansel Adams and the Photograph in Ink’ for the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, Arizona, opens in May 2010, a project funded by the AHRC. Currently, she is pursuing research into the influence of Whistler and the Etching Revival on artist-photogravurists at the turn of the century. |
