Katrin Graalmann was born in Essen, Germany in 1972. She studied illustration and printmaking at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences where she recently obtained her diploma in the studio of professor Ellen Sturm. Here she worked as a Student Assistant for several years helping to administrate and run the studio and give technical instructions. Her major was printmaking and she put a focus on etching, mostly interested in aquatint and chine collé.

She just received the Hans Maid award for young artist for her final project, a printmaking artist book, „Odyssee“. In 2006 she was invited as a visiting artist to the Utah State University in Logan, USA and recieved a scholarship from the Aldegrever Foundation in 2007. She exhibited in several group and one man shows locally and abroad.
