Catherine Bebout earned her MFA from Rochester Institute of Technology in Printmaking and Sculpture. She is Associate Professor in the Department of Art & Design and the Director of Printmaking at Montclair State University since 1996. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally with solo exhibitions in India, China, Canada, and New Zealand. Bebout has shown in several New York galleries including the International Print Center, Susan Teller Gallery, A.I.R Gallery, and the Center for Book Arts. Recent national group exhibitions include The Print Center in Philadelphia, the Sonoma Museum of Art, California, and the University of Hawaii, Hilo. Her work is included in numerous public collections such as the New York Public Library, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and The Musee d’Beaux Arts, Antwerp, Belgium. She has also participated in a number of international artist in residency programs such as the Frans Masereel Centrum in Belgium, Silpakorn University in Thailand, and Engramme in Quebec, Canada.

In 2008, Bebout was a Fulbright a Senior Research Scholar to India in Printmaking and Papermaking, as well as had a traveling exhibition in Mubai, Goa, and Chennai. She is a recent recipient of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowship in Printmaking, has received numerous other grants most notably from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation for the Arts, the RCIPP Rutgers, as well as the Canadian and Belgium governments. Her work has been published in a recent book titled, Printmaking: Traditional and Contemporary Techniques, by Chronicle Books, London, UK. Essays regarding her work have been in the Journal of Contemporary Impressions, the New Art Examiner, and Hand Papermaking.
